Students recently had the opportunity to design an emblem representing the community and our participation in the Student Spaceflight Experiment Program (SSEP). This coincided with the unique opportunity for students across the district to design an experiment to be tested in an microgravity environment aboard a space shuttle. The top emblem was designed by 9th grader Angelo Damiano in the Design and Drawing for Production (DDP) Class at the high school, taught by Mr. Greg Roberts. His design is entitled “Scotties in Space” and shows a paw print among the stars as the shuttle passes through the sky.
The emblem will fly on a shuttle flight this spring and then be returned to the community for display. According to the SSEP, it will “serve as a testament to the efforts of your students, teachers and community on SSEP, and recognition that your community was part of America’s Space Shuttle Program at this historic moment.”
