Partnership for Innovation in Education

The Ballston Spa schools have developed a Partnership for Innovation in Education program that collaborates with business and industry, higher education, non-profit and government agencies to develop innovative educational experiences that reframe teaching and learning for the 21st century. Preparing students for jobs that do not yet exist in a world where information is growing exponentially requires educational experiences that provide new tools for teaching, curriculum, assessment and professional development.

The Partnership seeks experiences that will apply new or current thinking in a different plane that will fundamentally change the learning experiences for teachers and students, creating evidence of mastery in the graduation competencies. It will expand to include internship and externship opportunities, symposia and lecture series, infusion of “new” technologies in the classrooms and a variety of other opportunities for working “outside” the box.

The district’s STEM partners, including GLOBALFOUNDRIES, are providing the necessary support for participation in this program.  The Children’s Museum of Science and Technology (CMOST), a current partner for 2nd grade science curriculum initiative, has also become part of this collaboration.

Partnership for Innovation in Education Fund

To develop alternative resources as well as to support innovative programming, the district has partnered with the Community Foundation for the Greater Capital Region to receive donations and sponsorships under a 501 (c) (3) status. The field of interest fund will be known as the Ballston Spa Partnership for Innovation in Education Fund. It will allow for tax exempt status and will be used to benefit various educational and mission-related programs in the district including additional SSEP components.
