The Student Spaceflight Experiments Program would not be possible without the passion and unwavering dedication to our children of all the teachers and administrators in the SSEP communities, the Local Partner Organizations that embrace the spirit of community and the importance of education, and the individuals that step to the plate as quiet heroes serving as e.g., research advisors to the student teams, and on the community’s Step 1 Review Board. The National Center for Earth and Space Science Education can provide the programmatic framework, but SSEP’s ability to inspire and engage the next generation of scientists and engineers is firmly in the hands of all the educators, organizations, and individuals on the ground.
It is therefore with great pride that the Center, and its international arm, the Arthur C. Clarke Institute for Space Education, make available Certificates of Accomplishment for each of these groups. It is a special thank you to everyone that made SSEP possible for the thousands of students—we as a team—are inspiring to reach for the stars.

About the Certificates
The certificates are provided to the Community Program Director as a PDF file. They are ready to be printed and given to teachers and administrators, local partner organizations, and individuals that have participated in the program. The certificates include imagery, logos, and ISS insignia, as well as electronic signatures for Dr. Jeff Goldstein, SSEP Director, and Jeffrey Manber, Managing Director of NanoRacks, LLC.
IMPORTANT NOTE: these are controlled documents given the inclusion of the institutional logos, particularly the NASA logo. We therefore request a letter from a SSEP Community Program Director, on their organization’s letterhead, stating that they will have control over printing and distribution of the certificates. Requesting Your Certificates
To request customized certificates for your community, send an email to stacyhamel@ncesse.org with the following information and documentation:
- The name of your community exactly as you would like it to be included in the certificate (please note the available space for the name)
- The name of your community leader exactly as you would like it to be included in the certificate (please note the available space for the name)
- If you would like to have the electronic signature of your community leader included in the final PDF file, which means that the certificates would not need to be signed by hand, provide the electronic signature. The format required for the signature is a PNG file which is transparent everywhere except within the signature itself (see, for example, the electronic signature for Jeff Goldstein on the certificate). Image files that are not transparent will block the background image, and are not used.
- A signed Letter of Certificate Control from your organization addressing control of the printing and distribution of the certificates.
Please note that we cannot provide any other customization in the certificates except what is addressed in the list above.
We invite SSEP Community Program Directors to contact Stacy if you would like certificates that you can color print, enter individual’s names, and hand out (with great fanfare).
The Student Spaceflight Experiments Program (SSEP) is a program of the National Center for Earth and Space Science Education (NCESSE) in the U.S., and the Arthur C. Clarke Institute for Space Education internationally. It is enabled through a strategic partnership with NanoRacks LLC, working with NASA under a Space Act Agreement as part of the utilization of the International Space Station as a National Laboratory. SSEP is the first pre-college STEM education program that is both a U.S. national initiative and implemented as an on-orbit commercial space venture. The Center for the Advancement of Science in Space (CASIS) is a National Partner on SSEP.
