Important Guidance for New Sample Submissions in Support of a No-Earlier-Than May 10 Launch

To all student experiment teams, here is the revised plan for re-loading the mini-lab, and its turnover to NASA, based on a No-Earlier-Than (NET) May 10 launch:

New samples must arrive no later than Saturday morning, May 7 (FedEx arrival by 10:30 am is fine)

Note: you might consider arrival of your samples by Friday afternoon, May 6, so that FedEx is not delivering on a weekend. In the case of one of the original shipments, the weekend driver was not familiar with the area near the lab, and the perishable sample was stored in the FedEx warehouse for nearly two days.

Reload of experiment samples into the mini-lab will begin Saturday evening, May 7

Mini-lab reloading will be complete by midnight Sunday, May 8

payload is turned over to NASA at 7:00 am Monday, May 9

launch on Tuesday, May 10

Note: we are requiring the same deadline for receipt of samples – no later than Saturday morning, May 7 – for a launch as late as May 12 given that FedEx does not deliver on Sundays.

The Student Spaceflight Experiments Program (SSEP) is a program of the National Center for Earth and Space Science Education (NCESSE) in the U.S., and the Arthur C. Clarke Institute for Space Education internationally. It is enabled through a strategic partnership with DreamUp PBC and NanoRacks LLC, which are working with NASA under a Space Act Agreement as part of the utilization of the International Space Station as a National Laboratory. SSEP is the first pre-college STEM education program that is both a U.S. national initiative and implemented as an on-orbit commercial space venture.
